Week 11: Panthers Edge Falcons 30-27 in Overtime ATLANTA — The Falcons dropped their fifth straight game and second consecutive in overtime, falling 30-27 to the Carolina Panthers. Carolina won the opening coin toss, and Atlanta received the ball first. Bijan Robinson gained four yards on the first carry, followed by a screen pass that picked up an easy first down—though an ineligible man downfield penalty on Ryan Neuzil wiped out the play. A pass to tight end Kyle Pitts was dropped, and a third-down attempt to KhaDarel Hodge fell incomplete. Matt Bosher’s punt pinned the Panthers at their own 29-yard line. The Panthers moved the ball methodically, with Chuba Hubbard and Tommy Tremble picking up key yardage. Ryan Fitzgerald’s game-winning field goal in overtime sealed the 30-27 victory for Carolina.

Jonathan Taylor Leads Colts Past Falcons 31-25 in Germany BERLIN — Jonathan Taylor stole the show in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Berlin, rushing for 244 yards and three touchdowns as the Indianapolis Colts edged the Atlanta Falcons 31-25 in overtime. Taylor’s late 8-yard touchdown run in OT sealed the win, highlighting a dominant day for the Colts’ ground game. Taylor also set a franchise record, surpassing Edgerrin James with 65 career rushing touchdowns for Indianapolis and became just the fourth NFL player with multiple 200-yard, three-touchdown games, joining Jim Brown, Adrian Peterson, and Derrick Henry. Atlanta kept it close behind Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson, but turnovers and 0-for-8 third-down conversions derailed their effort. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 177 yards and a score, while Daniel Jones completed 19-of-26 passes for 255 yards but was sacked seven times and lost a fumble. The game, played at Olympiastadion, also commemorated German history, falling on the 36th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Taylor noted the moment’s significance, calling it an honor to perform on such a historic field.

Patriots Edge Falcons 24-23 for Sixth Straight Win The New England Patriots weren’t perfect, but they held on for a 24-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 — their sixth straight victory to move to 7-2. New England opened strong, forcing a quick three-and-out before marching 75 yards for an early touchdown. Drake Maye connected with DeMario Douglas on a 16-yard strike to finish the drive. Late in the game, the Patriots clung to a one-point lead and faced a crucial 3rd-and-5 near the two-minute warning. Maye found tight end Hunter Henry for the first down that sealed the win and extended the streak.

Tua Tagovailoa throws 4 TDs as Dolphins cruise past Falcons 34-10 ATLANTA — Tua Tagovailoa snapped out of his turnover slump in style, tossing four touchdown passes to lead the Miami Dolphins to a 34-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons and end a three-game skid. Wearing a new helmet visor, Tagovailoa looked sharp despite being listed with an illness before the game. He guided a 13-play, 79-yard drive capped by a 3-yard TD to De’Von Achane late in the first quarter and never looked back. Miami outgained Atlanta 338-213 and controlled both sides of the ball. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks paced the defense with 10 tackles and a sack, while the Dolphins held Bijan Robinson to just 25 rushing yards as the Falcons managed only 45 on the ground. Miami improved to 2-6 with the dominant win.

McCaffrey’s 200-yard performance lifts 49ers over Falcons 20-10 SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Christian McCaffrey carried the short-handed San Francisco 49ers to a 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons with his best outing in years. The star running back totaled 201 yards from scrimmage — 129 rushing and two touchdowns — marking his first 200-yard game since 2019. With tight end George Kittle back in the lineup, San Francisco (5-2) rediscovered its ground game and controlled the tempo throughout. “Putting the ball in his hands works out good for us,” said left tackle Trent Williams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan praised McCaffrey’s consistency, calling him “the most reliable player I’ve been around.” The Falcons (3-3) had no answers as the 49ers powered their way back into form.

Penix, Robinson shine as Falcons outlast Commanders 34-27 ATLANTA — Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. bounced back in a big way, throwing for a career-high 313 yards and two touchdowns as the Atlanta Falcons defeated the short-handed Washington Commanders 34-27 on Sunday. Coming off a shutout loss, Penix completed 20 of 26 passes and led the Falcons (4-4) to a season-best 435 yards of offense. Bijan Robinson added a career-high 181 yards from scrimmage, highlighted by a 69-yard catch-and-run that set up a Kyle Pitts touchdown. Robinson also rushed for 75 yards and a score. Drake London hauled in eight passes for 110 yards and a TD, while Pitts contributed five catches for 70 yards. Atlanta sealed the win with a 14-play, clock-draining drive capped by a short field goal in the final minutes. Marcus Mariota started for the Commanders (3-5) and threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns in place of the injured Jayden Daniels. Deebo Samuel caught a TD and Luke McCaffrey added another, but Washington couldn’t overcome Atlanta’s late-game execution.
