STATESBORO, Ga. — Coastal Carolina’s offense produced one of its biggest outings of the season, but the Chanticleers still came up short in a 45–40 shootout against Georgia Southern on Saturday night in Sun Belt action. Coastal piled up 482 total yards — its highest mark since last November against Georgia State — and dipped deep into its playbook. Jameson Tucker paced the receiving corps with 107 yards on four grabs, highlighted by a 75-yard score on a double pass thrown by wideout Bryson Graves. The trickery continued in the third quarter when receiver Robby Washington took a handoff and delivered a 12-yard touchdown pass to Karmello English. It was the first time since 2011 that two non-quarterbacks had thrown touchdown passes for the Chants in the same season. Quarterbacks Tad Hudson and Samari Collier combined for 280 yards of offense, with Collier rushing for 69 yards and punching in a five-yard touchdown. Special teams made a major impact in the second quarter. Freshman kicker Philippe Laforge connected on a 51-yard field goal — Coastal’s longest since 2022. Later in the period, after falling behind 35–20, Malcolm Gillie brought a kickoff back 96 yards for a touchdown, the program’s first kickoff return score since 2020. Defensively, Xamarion Gordon led the way with eight tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception. The Chanticleers totaled nine tackles for loss and forced two takeaways. With the defeat, Coastal dropped to 6–4 overall and 5–2 in Sun Belt competition.

Samari Collier powered Coastal Carolina to a 40–27 victory over Georgia State, opening the game with an explosive 85-yard touchdown run on the Chanticleers’ first snap and adding three touchdown passes throughout the night. Collier connected twice with Karmello English and once with Robby Washington, finishing with 120 passing yards on 11-of-18 throws. His long early run helped him rack up 123 rushing yards on just 10 carries. Kian Afrookhteh knocked through three field goals in the second quarter to give Coastal Carolina (6–3, 5–1 Sun Belt) a 23–14 lead at the break. Collier later found English for touchdowns of 3 and 31 yards, stretching the margin to 40–14 early in the fourth. English closed the game with four receptions for 63 yards. Georgia State’s TJ Finley and Cameran Brown combined for 293 passing yards and one scoring throw each, while Finley’s final drive ended with an interception by Ja’Marion Wayne. Jordan Simmons added 99 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (1–8, 0–5), and Ted Hurst posted 165 receiving yards on 10 catches along with a score. The win marked Coastal Carolina’s fourth straight.

Turnovers seemed to be the story of the night for this matchup as there was a total of 7 between the two teams. Coastal finished the game with a +3-turnover margin, also winning the game. Marshall committed 5 second half turnovers giving up their lead built before the half. After starting the game with an interception returned or a TD, Coastal Carolina looked as if they may have been overmatched, but resilience seems to be a part of the culture of Conway as the Chants completed their second come from behind win in arow.

Boone, N.C. — Coastal Carolina put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, taking down Appalachian State 45–37 on Saturday night in Boone. Behind the dual-threat play of quarterback S. Collier, the Chanticleers held off a late Mountaineer rally to secure a key conference win.
