Manning Throws 3 TDs as No. 20 Texas Holds Off No. 9 Vanderbilt 34-31 AUSTIN, Texas — Texas quarterback Arch Manning bounced back from a concussion to deliver a stellar performance, throwing for 328 yards and three touchdowns to help the No. 20 Longhorns edge No. 9 Vanderbilt 34-31 on Saturday. Manning opened the game with a 75-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo, setting the tone for Texas. The Longhorns appeared in control, leading 34-10 in the fourth quarter, before Vanderbilt mounted a furious comeback. Quarterback Diego Pavia scored on a run, threw a 67-yard touchdown to Eli Stowers, and later connected with Richie Hoskins for a TD with just 33 seconds remaining. Vanderbilt’s final attempt to recover an onside kick failed when the ball bounced off multiple players and went out of bounds. “Almost a playoff-level game in November,” said Texas coach Steve Sarkisian. “It’s a great win… You have to play a full 60 minutes in this conference.” Manning had missed part of last week’s game against Mississippi State due to a concussion but was cleared to start against the Commodores after completing the team’s injury protocol.

No. 22 Texas Comes Back to Beat Mississippi State 45-38 in Overtime STARKVILLE, Miss. — The No. 22 Texas Longhorns overcame a late deficit and an injury to quarterback Arch Manning, rallying to defeat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 45-38 in overtime on Saturday. Matthew Caldwell threw the game-winning touchdown to Emmett Mosley after Manning left the game with an apparent injury. Texas trailed 31-14 after three quarters but pulled within reach thanks to a 79-yard punt return by Ryan Niblett with 1:47 remaining in regulation. Even after falling behind 38-21 with 12:29 left—highlighted by Davon Booth’s 62-yard touchdown catch and run—the Longhorns kept fighting. Manning connected with Mosley on a 21-yard touchdown with 9:34 left, followed by Mason Shipley’s 26-yard field goal to make it 38-31 and force overtime. “Once a year you get a culture win, and this was ours,” said Texas coach Steve Sarkisian. “I don’t know if I’ve ever been more proud of a group of guys. Our toughness had to be at its peak for this program.” Manning finished 29 of 46 for 346 yards, throwing three touchdowns and one interception, and also added a rushing touchdown before exiting in overtime.

Texas Longhorns Escape with Narrow Win at Kentucky After a big win last week, the Texas Longhorns faced a different kind of challenge on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats. Coming off a high-profile matchup, the Longhorns struggled to find their rhythm, managing a 16-13 victory in a game that fell short of expectations. While Texas came away with the win Saturday night, the offense looked sluggish at times, and the game proved far closer than many anticipated.

LSU women’s basketball delivered a statement win Sunday afternoon, knocking off No. 2 Texas 70–65 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and handing the Longhorns their first loss of the season. The opening quarter was a defensive grind, ending with the teams locked at 11 apiece. LSU struggled to find its shooting touch early, opening the game by hitting just two of its first 12 attempts from the field. Momentum shifted in the second quarter, however, as guard MiKaylah Williams caught fire. The Tigers won the period 19–14 and went into halftime ahead by five after Jada Richard connected on a floater just before the buzzer. LSU carried that energy into the third quarter, opening the half with a 9–4 surge that forced a Texas timeout. The Tigers continued to push the pace, extending their advantage to 46–34 midway through the period. Texas responded with a strong run of its own, trimming the deficit to three, but LSU regrouped and prevented the game from slipping away. Holding a four-point lead late, LSU leaned on Williams once again. Her clutch three-pointer in the final two minutes stretched the margin to seven and provided the cushion the Tigers needed to finish off the upset victory.

AUSTIN, Texas — Ole Miss women’s basketball came up just short on Sunday, dropping a 67–64 decision to second-ranked Texas inside the Moody Center. The Rebels (14-3, 1-1 SEC) made things tense late after erasing most of a sizable deficit. Trailing by as many as 19 points and down 15 entering the fourth quarter, Ole Miss surged back to pull within three before time ran out. Texas (17-0, 2-0 SEC) steadied itself in the closing moments to remain unbeaten. Cotie McMahon sparked the late rally with a dominant final period, scoring 12 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter while also contributing four rebounds and four assists. Her performance nearly pushed the Rebels all the way back into the game. McMahon’s scoring consistency continues to stand out, as she has reached double figures in all 17 games this season. That streak matches the mark set by Nikki Byrd to open the 2011–12 campaign and puts McMahon within reach of Ole Miss history, with Bianca Thomas’ 19-game run from the 2009–10 season next on the list.
