Late Collapse Costs Clemson Baseball in Fourth Straight Loss to Coastal Carolina. No. 20 Coastal Carolina rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat Clemson 11-9 on March 24 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Chanticleers (17-7, 6-0 Sun Belt) were down 9-3 entering the seventh inning but erupted for seven unanswered runs to secure the comeback over the Tigers (18-8, 1-5 ACC).

The Gamecocks’ bullpen struggled in the later innings, and North Carolina pulled away for a decisive 9-1 victory. South Carolina (13-13) held a 2-1 lead until the sixth inning, then gave up one run in that frame and six more in the seventh during Monte Lee’s third game as head coach. North Carolina (21-4-1) pitchers recorded 14 strikeouts, marking the fourth-highest total in a single game this season. Despite the loss, Lee remained relatively unfazed by his team’s approach at the plate, highlighting several key moments and praising UNC’s consistent execution and resilience.

Clemson knocked off South Carolina to claim the series and secure bragging rights in the rivalry matchup. After dropping the opener in Columbia with a shutout loss on Friday, the Tigers bounced back with two straight wins over the Gamecocks. Victories Saturday at Segra Park and Sunday at home allowed Clemson to take the series and mark its third consecutive series win over South Carolina. Clemson’s pitching staff was dominant in Sunday’s finale, limiting South Carolina to just four hits. The Gamecocks (7-5) struggled offensively throughout the weekend, going 12-for-91 (.132) at the plate over the three-game set and dropping three of their last four contests. South Carolina head coach Paul Mainieri acknowledged the challenge after the game, noting the need for improvement at the plate while giving credit to Clemson’s pitching and timely hitting.

RALEIGH, N.C. – In a tie game during the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, Chris McHugh delivered the decisive moment for NC State. His second home run of the night put the Wolfpack ahead by two runs, and Collins Black closed things out in the ninth to secure a 6–4 win over No. 16 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Tuesday night at Doak Field. The matchup marked the first ranked opponent of the season for NC State Wolfpack (11–1). The game remained close throughout, with both teams trading momentum and combining for seven runs during the seventh and eighth innings. Brayden Frassman and Luke Nixon each recorded three hits for the Wolfpack. Frassman added a double and two RBIs, while Nixon drove in a run with a double of his own. McHugh finished with three RBIs and scored three times while recording the first multi–home run performance of his career. Black (2–0) picked up the win after pitching the final two innings. He allowed two hits but kept Coastal Carolina off the scoreboard while striking out two. Starter Heath Andrews worked five innings, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Anderson Nance followed with two strong innings out of the bullpen, retiring every batter he faced and striking out three. Both teams opened the game with solo home runs in the first inning. Coastal Carolina took a 2–1 lead in the fifth after drawing back-to-back two-out walks before Blake Barthol delivered an RBI single. NC State responded in the seventh with three runs on three hits to move in front 4–2. McHugh started the rally by reaching on a two-out walk and later scored from first base on Nixon’s double. The close play at the plate was reviewed and upheld, tying the game. Frassman later drove a double into the right-center gap with two strikes, bringing home Nixon and Sherman Johnson to give the Wolfpack the lead. Coastal Carolina quickly answered in the eighth. Dean Mihos led off the inning with a home run to cut the deficit to one, and the Chanticleers later tied the game with an RBI single following a walk and stolen base. With runners on second and third and two outs, Black struck out pinch hitter Trace Mazon to keep the game tied heading into the bottom half of the inning. In the eighth, Drew Lanphere drew a leadoff walk, but two quick outs nearly ended the threat. That set the stage for McHugh, who launched a breaking ball from Coastal Carolina pitcher Connor Kane (0–1) 370 feet over the left-field wall to give NC State the lead for good.

LSU Tigers baseball powered past Kent State Golden Flashes baseball 10-7 on Monday night in Baton Rouge, using a big night at the plate to stay unbeaten. The Tigers launched four home runs at Alex Box Stadium, highlighted by junior right fielder Jake Brown’s pair of long balls that helped fuel the offense. The win marked LSU’s fourth in a row to open the season, moving the team to 4-0 overall. Kent State, which entered the contest fresh off a series sweep at Southeastern Louisiana, fell to 3-1 with the setback but kept the pressure on throughout the night.

Coastal Carolina baseball added more national accolades during the offseason as Cameron Flukey and Ryan Lynch were selected as First Team All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, while Dominick Carbone received Second Team All-America recognition. These honors further highlight a remarkable offseason for the Chanticleers, following a season widely regarded as one of the most successful in program history.
