Louisiana Tech closed the Independence Bowl with a dominant fourth quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points to rally past Coastal Carolina 23–14 on Tuesday night in Shreveport.

Trailing 14–6 entering the final period, quarterback Trey Kukuk jump-started the comeback with a 52-yard touchdown strike to Marlion Jackson on first down. The two-point attempt came up short, leaving the Bulldogs down by two with just under 12 minutes to play.

Momentum swung quickly after Louisiana Tech forced a punt and Dedrick Latulas returned it 25 yards into Coastal Carolina territory, aided by an unnecessary roughness penalty. Kukuk then broke free for a 29-yard run on the opening play of the drive, setting up Andrew Burnette’s one-yard touchdown plunge. Kukuk connected with Burnette again on the two-point conversion to give the Bulldogs a 20–14 advantage with 8:09 remaining.

Coastal Carolina built its halftime lead behind two touchdown passes from Tad Hudson, who found Dominic Knicely from 20 yards out in the first quarter and Robby Washington on a 16-yard score before the break. The Chanticleers led 14–3 at halftime and outgained Louisiana Tech 248–104 in the opening half, which was marred by 17 combined penalties — 10 by Coastal Carolina — the most in any first half of an FBS game this season.

Birmingham Bowl

Georgia Southern closed its season with a convincing 29–10 win over Appalachian State on Monday night in the Birmingham Bowl, leaning heavily on a dominant ground attack.

OJ Arnold gashed the Mountaineers for 152 rushing yards on just 11 carries, while Terrance Gibbs and Weston Bryant each punched in a rushing score. The victory capped a 7–6 season for the Eagles and marked the program’s fourth straight bowl appearance, all under head coach Clay Helton — a first in school history.

After Appalachian State stalled on its opening possession, Georgia Southern seized control with an 11-play, 66-yard march that ended in a 1-yard touchdown run by Gibbs midway through the first quarter. That score put the Eagles in front for good.

The momentum carried into the second half when Arnold burst free for a 58-yard run on the opening play. Two snaps later, Bryant powered in from three yards out. Quarterback JC French IV later stretched the lead further, connecting with Marcus Sanders Jr. on a 32-yard touchdown pass to make it 26–7 and effectively seal the outcome.
